Your information

Privacy, explained.

How the current version of Fornel handles your information and how you stay in control.

Responsible for Fornel: Sabri Alifov

Your kitchen information

Ingredient notes and exclusions, portions, time limits, taste preferences, confirmed cooking history, shopping lists and cooking progress are saved on your device. Shopping items can include quantities from several recipes. In the current version, we do not receive this kitchen information on a Fornel server and no account is needed.

Recipes work offline. Apple backups and device transfers may include app data, depending on your settings. Fornel currently has no cloud synchronization.

Dinner preferences and history

Your favorites, hidden dishes, “Suggest less often” choices and recent cooking history help order suggestions on your device. “Not today” applies only to the current visit; shown and skipped ideas are not saved as browsing history.

Only cooking that you finish and confirm is added to history, with the recipe, portions, date and time. Opening a recipe does not record a cooked meal.

Tonight without shopping

This mode uses your local ingredient notes. Confirming amounts saves “At home”; reporting something missing saves “Need to buy”. Amount checks apply only to the chosen recipe and portions and reset when portions change or a new check starts. These notes do not measure or automatically deduct stock.

Maps and location

Finding shops and calculating routes uses Apple services and requires internet. Location permission is requested when you choose “Use my location”. You can enter a city or neighborhood instead.

Apple processes the search text, map region and routing information needed for these services. Fornel does not save your coordinates or run background location tracking. You can change location permission in iOS Settings. Apple handles its services under Apple’s privacy policy.

Sharing is your choice

Recipes and remaining shopping items are shared only when you open the system share sheet and select a destination. The app or person you choose receives the selected text and handles it under its own practices. Sharing is optional and does not create a live, synchronized family list.

Advertising and analytics

The current version has no ads, tracking, usage analytics, subscriptions or in-app purchases. We do not use the advertising identifier.

Managing your information

You can edit ingredient notes and shopping items in the app. In “Taste & history”, you can clear taste preferences or cooking history separately, keeping your pantry, exclusions, shopping and unfinished cooking.

Deleting Fornel through iOS removes local app data; offloading preserves it. Manage Apple backups separately in your device settings. We cannot retrieve or delete your local kitchen data remotely.
